Cyndi’s Thoughts

Jeff and I have been talking to Rich to try and make sense of the situation.  He says it was a mix up and that he really didn’t mean to do it on purpose.  I guess I’m not used to stuff like that.  We have had very little trouble with this sort of thing in the past 30 + years.  I’m sure we’ve been very fortunate about not being on the other end of  things.  I’m sure alot of bands haven’t been as lucky.  Hopefully, this is an isolated incident and we will continue to play without too many problems.  We do this because it is fun and to make extra income.  If it causes stress it isn’t worth it.  I guess I can choose to make it stressful  or I can choose to not let it bother me.  Most of you know me and I usually choose to let things roll off.  So, maybe I’m wishy washy…. but oh well.  I hate confrontation and I probably always will.  I’m sure if the chips were down and it was something of real importance I would be a force to reckon with.  But I’m not going to dwell on this now. But…..If it happens again….look out!!!

I’m pretty ticked off right now.  The Countryside cancelled our last two Fridays that we had booked there.  Bryan and I went out there last Friday night and they had a big crowd with a birthday party.  Now this week they have Automatic booked for Friday night.  That is dirty in my book.  I can understand if they would be honest and say that we just don’t fit the club and that they want to draw a younger crowd etc.  But you should honor the dates  and just not book us next year.  We depend on the income we make in the band and it isn’t right to just cancel on a whim. I don’t think I care to play there anymore.  Tremor’s would never treat us like that nor would Owl’s Club.   I will be telling them how much we appreciate them.  Tell me what you all think…I think it sucks!!

Seems like the bad economy is already taking hold. The Countryside had to cancel bands because of slow business lately. I also got a call from Mick & Tony’s today and they are discontinuing bands until further notice also due to not enough business to support live bands.  We only had one more job booked there on August 8.  It’s too bad I really like playing there.  We also had a private party cancel on the 26th of July due to the flooding. They were planning on having it in their yard in Mallwood, which is on Lake Koshkonong.  The water “put a damper” on that. (so to speak).  I hope we can find some more places to play.  It would be really sad if this started happening everywhere.   On a happier note, the 4th of July weekend went really well and the weather was superb.  Milton was a blast and Crazy Horse was too. What a great weekend.  Happy Birthday to Matt. Hope you had a good one.  We will miss everyone.  Hope to see you all at the fair on Friday night. 4-8.  I ordered new shirts today. We should have them by the fair.  They should be really nice.  I actually ordered men’s and women’s this time. So you girls don’t have to wear the men’s shirts anymore.  I’m not sure of the cost yet.  I will let you know.  Happy Summer!!
